Life is a crazy roller coaster that can be just as scary and difficult as it is exhilarating. But that is what pushes us forward in life, right? The misadventures, the adventures, the tumbles, the upswings, the dust-offs, the highs, the lows, the victories. If we are not making some mistakes while on this bumpy ride then I am not quite sure we are learning. Mistakes are essential to learning, to growth, to evolving, to building, to being better than before.
In the past I was hard on myself because of my mistakes and rookie skill set in music, fashion, and creative direction. With being hard on myself (though I had a great foundation of my creative resume), I always began my creative works and stopped cold turkey due to my excessive perfectionist attitude. See, I initially started a street-style blog back in 2008 when blogging and vlogging was more low radar.... Only if I would have just stuck to my creative works... Big mistake to stop right?
(sckrrrrrrtttttttttttttt- the sound of coming to a screeching halt)
I do not regret or dwell on the past: the could’ves, would’ves, or the should’ves. Instead, I reflect on my past, remain in my present, and work on my direction for my future. I choose to reflect on how much I have grown beyond those adolescent years of thinking that I had to do everything absolutely perfect and the mistakes I've made along the way. I have spent years building myself, not realizing how beneficial those years would be to my now.
The take away from what I’m saying? Continue to push forward! Do not give up or be hard on yourself. Mistakes are inevitable and you should look at what you can learn from them. Be your own champion and cheerleader! None of us are perfect and we all are still learning while trying to get a handle on this roller coaster ride.
